The London Clinic of Psychoanalysis has a low-fee scheme whereby a limited number of low-fee places in psychoanalysis are available to those recommended following a Clinic consultation.

Frequency of sessions: five times weekly for 50 minute sessions for a period of at least two years.

Minimum fee: The minimum fee is £5 per session but if this presents real difficulties, lower fees can be negotiated by agreement with the Clinical Director. Patients agree to pay what they can reasonably afford and this is reviewed annually.

Geographical Area: Most low-fee analyses are available in the London area, either at the Clinic or at the analyst’s private consulting room, but some places are also available in other parts of the UK.

The Scottish Institute of Human Relations does not officially operate a reduced fee scheme but children and adolescents can be seen by analytic trainees at a lower fee. Patients are asked to contribute what they can reasonably afford, and this is made in the form of a donation.

The C.G. Jung Clinic for Children is run in conjunction with the Training of Children's Analysts at the Society of Analytical Psychology. The Clinic offers a diagnostic assessment service for children and their parents or guardians followed by individual therapy and analysis for children where appropriate.

Frequency of sessions: Treatment varies from intensive analytical therapy (5 sessions weekly) to less intensive therapy (1-3 sessions per week) as required.

Age range: At the commencement of therapy ages range from 3 to 16 years. There is also a limited number of clinic places for mothers wishing to have intensive therapy (4-5 times weekly) for themselves.

Minimum fee: By arrangement between the Clinic and patient¹s family or guardian as appropriate according to circumstances.

Geographical Area: Ordinarily treatment takes place in London. There are occasional vacancies outside London either with a fully trained Jungian Child Analyst or with those in the training programme.

Tavistock Society of Psychotherapists

Adolescent Department/Child & Family Department

The Tavistock Clinic forms part of the Tavistock & Portman NHS Trust a national and international centre for training, research and clinical work. All referrals are from the NHS, and may be accepted from across the Country, dependent on a service agreement being in place with the home health authority. An initial comprehensive assessment may be followed by individual, intensive, group or family therapy.

Referrals to the Adolescent Department may be made by adolescents themselves, parents, GPs or other professionals. The department also provides the Young People's Counselling Service. This is a self referral service, offering up to four meetings for adolescents and young adults aged between 16-30 years.
