Robin Anderson: Modern Developments in Child Analysis
5 sessions, 8.15pm-9.45pm: Tuesdays September 21, 28, October 5, 12, 19
Robin will particularly focus on the way modern Post Kleinian thinking has led to a different way of applying Melanie Klein's original descriptions of the Play Technique, including such developments as Bion and Rosenfeld's work on the use of projective identification, Joseph's work on the 'Total Transference Situation' and her ideas of the micro movements of the transference / counter transference within the unfolding of sessions.
Robin Anderson is a training analyst in adult, child and adolescent analysis at the British Psychoanalytical Society.
David Simpson: Rosenfeld and Narcissism: The Clinical Implications
5 sessions, 8.15pm-9.45pm: Tuesdays November 2, 9, 16, 23, 30
This course will examine the implications of Rosenfeld's ideas on narcissism for clinical work with patients. The series will begin by examining, through key papers, theories that he developed on this subject, including his idea of narcissistic organisations and the distinction between destructive and libidinal aspects. The roles of the life and death instincts and of traumatic factors will be considered.

CFAR offers a series of short courses on themes in Lacanian psychoanalysis. No prior knowledge of Lacan is assumed and the seminars will all include clinical examples involving the kind of problems and questions that are common to diverse in contemporary psychotherapy
Lacan’s ‘Four Fundamental Concepts of Psychoanalysis’ (1963–64) is a landmark seminar not only in terms of the development of Lacan’s work but also in relation to contemporary developments in psychoanalysis. This short course will present Lacan’s four concepts and give clinical examples which show the relevance of Lacan’s thought to the clinician today.

The Portman Clinic
6 October - 8 December 2010
This seminar series, for qualified psychotherapists of different backgrounds, aims to discuss aspects of technique in the treatment of patients presenting with problems of perversion, delinquency and violence.
Each seminar will be introduced by a theoretical orientation on the topic of the day (45 min) followed by a presentation by a Portman Clinician (45 min) to illustrate some of the aspects discussed beforehand. The seminar will conclude with a half hour discussion of the questions raised.
The seminars aim not to focus on patients but rather on the techniques used. The framework, including management and confidentiality, is seen as part of technique and is therefore also covered in this course.

Post-Qualifying Certificate in CBT Skills
